
The National Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Caravan – Central Luzon opened at the University of the Assumption on Friday, June 20.
The two-day event brought together teachers, librarians, and media practitioners.
The caravan focused on strengthening digital literacy and combating disinformation in Central Luzon.
The event was organized by the Communication Foundation for Asia in partnership with the PUP College of Communication, the PUP PhD Communication Society, and the University of the Assumption.
The caravan aims to equip participants with "practical skills in analyzing, evaluating, and creating responsible media content."
During the event, Dr. Jose Reuben Alagaran II, spoke on media mindfulness in everyday life while Prof. Yhna Therese Santos, guided participants in identifying credible information sources for education and media use.
A session and workshop on evaluating media texts and building disinformation resilience through fact-checking was also facilitated.
The caravan continues until June 21 with discussions on online privacy, safety, and security; usage of digital tools for MIL instruction; and creating alternative media texts.
