The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) said it is reviving Happening on the Green (The HOG) at the Clark Visitors Center.

During the events ceremonial launching on July 11, the CDC said the initiative aims to bring back one of the traditions of the former Clark Air Base, which was once considered the largest United States military installation outside the country, according to Britannica.com.

Led by CDC President Agnes Devanadera, the launching featured testimonials, cultural presentations, a ceremonial caramel apple dipping, and a press conference.

The HOG, which ran from the late 1960s to the 1990s, was originally organized by the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Division of the U.S. Air Force. It served as a morale booster for service members and their families, transforming the Parade Grounds into a vibrant hub of music, food, games, and camaraderie.

The HOG is scheduled to return in November 2025, with CDC launching festivities after the October 23 lighting of Christmas displays.

CDC, through its Tourism Promotions Division, aims to restore The HOG as a celebration that reflects both American fair traditions and Filipino community spirit.?

Festivalgoers may look forward to Picnic Park zones, a Gastronomic Lane, a Veterans’ Memory Wall, a Cultural Courtyard, a Car Show, a Hotdog Eating Contest, a Battle of the Bands, and a dazzling Fireworks Display.

The press launching of the event drew support from Department of Tourism Region III Director Richard Daenos, Porac Vice Mayor Trisha Angelie "Jen" Capil, tourism officers from the Metro Clark Area, and Post Commander Janet Alford of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2485.

"As Clark Freeport continues to evolve as a center for commerce and tourism, the return of The HOG signals a renewed commitment to honoring its rich history and vibrant community spirit," the CDC said.
