City gov't suspends classes due to heat

Published on

The city government of San Fernando has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private, on Tuesday, May 20 due to extreme heat.

Mayor Vilma Caluag said she ordered the suspension of classes as a precautionary measure against the extreme heat index forecast in the area.

The mayor added that classes may continue through online or alternative learning modalities as advised by school administrators.

Caluag’s directive comes after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported a projected heat index of 42 degrees Celsius—classified under the “danger” level in nearby Clark, Pampanga.

The public are advised to stay hydrated and follow health and safety tips issued by agencies to prevent heat-related illnesses.
