Policemen apprehended two persons during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sapang Biabas, Mabalacat City on Sunday night.
The suspects were identified as “Chika,” 20, male, unemployed, of Blk 13 Lot 21, Sapang Biabas Phase 1; and “Niks,” 20, female, unemployed, of Blk 55 Lot 15, 51 St., Mawaque Resettlement, Sapang Biabas.
Some 5.5 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves worth P660,000, and 470 grams of kush valued at P775,500 were seized by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the city police.
The suspects and confiscated items were brought to the Mabalacat Police Department for documentation and disposition.
Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the arrested persons.
Colonel Eugene Marcelo, director of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office, lauded the Mabalacat Police Office, for the arrest of the two, tagged as "high-value targets."
He even warned individuals engaging in the illegal drug trade.
Marcelo stressed the mission of the Philippine National Police to "rid communities of the drug menace."
