Crop, fishery damage in Pampanga reach P1.2B

The damage brought about by the recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon has now reached P1,209,718,796, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) said.

Pampanga's fisheries sector registered the highest losses at P790,032,855, mainly from the fishing towns of Minalin, Masantol, Macabebe, and Sasmuan.

Minalin town alone reported some P329,871,255 worth of damage.

Apalit town also reported some P449,860,195 damage to its fisheries sector.

The losses to Pampanga's fisheries and crop sectors have reportedly affected the livelihood of some 9,013 farmers and fishermen.

The province's rice crops also sustained heavy damage with total losses of P376,719,057.

Candaba town reported the highest number of damage in terms of rice crops at P164,079,340.

Apalit town reported the second highest losses on rice pegged at P63,492,763 followed by San Luis and Arayat at P29,752,844 and P29,159,664, respectively.

The OPA reported that the damage on high-value crops has now reached P38,873,513 while losses to corn and cassava reached P4,093,370.
