The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 3 (DOLE-3) and its partner government agencies and groups recently pledged to ensure safe and healthy workplaces.

The agency, in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Center-Regional Extension Unit 3, gathered over 155 establishment representatives at the Clark Development Corporation Multi-Purpose Hall in Clark Freeport on Monday for the signing of the revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Law.

The OSH Law contains the guidelines for suitable construction worker accommodations, and other provisions that ensure safe and healthy workplaces.

Referencing the advent of artificial intelligence or AI, DOLE-3 Director Geraldine M. Panlilio emphasized the irreplaceable role of human vigilance in advancing workplace safety alongside modern technology.

"Technology alone will not guarantee zero accidents, and the human factor is still very essential. So, AI should not make just an old process over numbers and algorithms, it should be safer, more personal, more immediate and more effective. It should remind us also that in your respective workplaces, all of the machines which have sensors, all the dashboards that you are using, and all of the data of any piece of data, large data for that matter, we should remember there is life, there is a family and there is a future," she said.

The gathering concluded with the signing of the "United for Zero Accidents: A Call to Action" commitment.

The DOLE also announced that job fairs will be held in 69 sites nationwide as part of the Labor Day Celebration on May 1.

These will be participated in by 2,281 employers ready to offer 216,144 job opportunities, including 181,933 local vacancies and 34,211 overseas jobs.

For this year's Labor Day job fair, Central Luzon will offer around 32,000 employment opportunities.

Applicants may reach out to the nearest Public Employment Service Office, DOLE regional and field offices, or visit the respective websites and social media accounts of the Public Employment Services Office and DOLE regional and field offices.
