Children of former rebels in Aurora province were awarded scholarship grants by the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91st IB).

The 91st IB facilitated the enrollment of the nine students who are in Grade 8 to college.

Some of the college students are taking up Tourism Management and Criminology.

Lieutenant Colonel Julito Recto Jr., 91st IB Commanding Officer, said the scholars receive full coverage of tuition, miscellaneous, and other fees.

"With the latest batch, a total of 21 scholars—comprising former rebels and their dependents—are now benefiting from the program. It ensures that former rebels and their families are given meaningful opportunities to rebuild their lives," he said.

The government, through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, supports former rebels and their families.

The government support includes livelihood aid, financial assistance, and skills training.

The program also extends to dependents of active soldiers and members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit.
