Farmers oriented about Sagip Saka Act

The Department of Agriculture (DA), along with other government agencies, conducted the Luzon A Cluster Orientation/Reorientation, Assessment, and Workshop from April 21 to 25, 2025, at The Duyan House, Sinagtala Resort in Orani, Bataan.

The activity is in line with the implementation of the Farmers and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development Program (FFEDP) under Republic Act No. 11321, also known as the Sagip Saka Act.

The activity brought together representatives from the DA Central Office and Regional Field Offices I, II, III, and CAR.

They were joined as well by personnel of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

The workshop focused on the operational procedures for implementing the FFEDP.

Topics discussed included the granting of tax incentives, direct government procurement from registered farmers and fisherfolk enterprises, accreditation procedures for cooperatives and enterprises, and the formulation of Enterprise Capacity Development Plans (ECDPs).

During the workshop, participating region presented their respective ECDP outputs, which were reviewed by a panel.

The activity also covered the roles and responsibilities of various implementing agencies in relation to the provisions of the Sagip Saka Act.

A presentation titled “1Bataan Farms: Precision Farming using Israel Smart Agriculture Technology” was delivered by Bataan 3rd District Representative Maria Angela S. Garcia as part of the program.

Republic Act No. 11321, which was enacted in April 2019 and effective since October 2019, institutionalizes the FFEDP.

The program aims to support agricultural and fisheries enterprises through a comprehensive framework involving government support and market linkages.
