Damage to fisheries caused by the effects of recent typhoons reached P496.53 million
Citing a report from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the capitol said 1,051 affected farmers were recorded in the fisheries sector as of Sunday, August 23.
Minalin town recorded the largest fishery damage at ?231.11 million, involving 220 farmers.
Macabebe followed with ?84.70 million in damages involving 451 farmers.
In Sasmuan, there were ?47.18 million losses involving 21 farmers.
Other fisheries losses included ?40.76 million in Candaba, ?37.03 million in Lubao, ?32.65 million in Masantol, ?14.91 million in Sta. Ana, ?5.59 million in Sto. Tomas, and ?2.58 million in San Luis.
The local government of Guagua recorded ?30,250 in fisheries damage.
The fisheries losses formed the largest portion of the ?923.30 million in total agricultural damage in the province.
The overall agricultural assessment involved 9,314 affected farmers, covering rice, fisheries, corn, cassava, high-value crops and others.
The fisheries damage was reported amid widespread flooding in Pampanga.
A situational report said that 381 barangays, 314,945 families and 1,009,257 persons have been affected by the weather disturbances as of August 23.
