Foundation hosts vax drive in CSF

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Philippine Foundation for Vaccination recently conducted a vaccination outreach in this capital city.

The program is aimed to promote awareness regarding the prevention of influenza among seniors.

The event was held at a mall here in partnership with the City Government of San Fernando and the Raising Awareness on Influenza to Support Elderlies Coalition (Raise).

The vaccination included local government agency leaders, medical groups, and others.

The event also featured town hall sessions and dance exercises.

The initiative aims to provide vaccination among seniors in order to protect them from flu and other flu-related diseases.

The Philippine Foundation for Vaccination said that influenza remains one of the leading causes of death among senior citizens.

The group added that influenza “accounts for 70 percent of flu-related hospitalizations.”

It stressed that 85 percent of deaths among the elderly are due to influenza.

The Philippine Statistics Authority said that the number of Filipinos who will reach the age of 60 will increase in the next five years.
