The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the graft case against former Limay, Bataan Mayor Nelson Canlas David.

In a resolution promulgated on February 26, the Special Sixth Division ruled the dismissal of the case for alleged violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, in view of his death.

David died on November 28, 2024 due to health reasons.

His son, then Vice Mayor Richie David, assumed the mayoralty post.

In a statement, Mayor Richie said the ruling finally put an end to the case of his father.

“We filed a Motion for Reconsideration and the Sandiganbayan granted the dismissal of the case. Thus, this interview to finally conclude all the issues involving my late father,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by their family.

“As we continue his legacy, allow us to celebrate his life. He was a great man. And in our hearts, he’ll forever be a great father and Ama ng Bayan ng Limay na kanyang pinagsilbihan ng 24 taon ng buong puso at pagmamahal,” Mayor Richie said.
