A grassfire broke out in Mount Arayat on Sunday night, March 16.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that the fire started in the portion of Barangay San Juan Baño and spread to Barangay Gatiawin.
The PDRRMO said that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Arayat responded at 9:01 PM and declared the fire under control by 9:40 PM.
The conflagration was completely extinguished at 10:09 PM.
Authorities raised a first alarm, with no reported injuries or property damage.
An assessment conducted by PDRMMO estimated that 10,000 square meters of land were affected.
But residents said on Monday that more than 13 hectares of properties, with trees and grass, were affected by the incident.
The BFP is investigating the cause of the fire.
