Actress and tv host Karla Estrada admits that she feels devastated with the words hurled against her son Daniel Padilla after his breakup with his ex-girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo.
On November 30, 2023, in separate statements, Daniel and Kathryn confessed that their 11-year relationship has ended.
KathNiel fans blamed Daniel as the cause of their breakup. At that time prior to their separation, the actor was romantically linked to actress Andrea Brillantes, which caused Kathryn to break up with him.
Aside from Andrea's name, several actresses were also linked to Daniel and made netizens realize how many times the actor cheated on Kathryn.
With all the issues involving Daniel, critics of KathNiel fans put the blame on the actor's flirtatious behaviour.
In a recent interview of Karla, she talked about how Daniel has gone through the ordeal of receiving harsh words from netizens and fans.
The first question hurled on Karla was the biggest controversy which involves Daniel that made her gave in.
Karla admits having been greatly affected by hurtful words against Daniel and those below-the-belt online comments. It even came to a point where she almost answer the negative comments one by one.
"I think yung paghihiwalay kasi nila, sa kanila ni Kathryn yon, e. Sila naman ang nakakaalam talaga at sila naman ang magreresolba kung ano man yung dahilan ng paghihiwalay at doon sa nangyaring hiwalayan."
"Pero yung salita ng tao na halos hindi mo na makain at sobrang kabastusan kung anumang ang...medyo yon and hindi ko na kinakaya. Hindi ko kinakaya na parang ikamamatay ko. Hindi ko na halos kayanin na kailangan ko nang hanapin yung mga taong ganoon magsalita at isa-isahing sagutin," she explained with teary-eyes.
Instead of meddling in the issue, she opted to remain mum about the situation.
It wasn't Karla's first time to talk about the controversy. On May 11, 2024, she faced Bernadette Sembrano in her YouTube vlog. According to her, she cannot talk about Daniel's emotional condition because as a mother, she felt that her son was greatly affected by the never ending issue.
"Yung anak ko, pinag-usapan naman ng buong daigdig iyan, ano. And I always pray that he will be okay. But at the end of the day, yung question na kumusta yung anak ko, kumusta si Daniel, si Daniel lang ang tanging makakasagot nang buo nun. But ako, as a mother, I always pray for the best for my son, para sa mga anak ko. Hindi lang Kay Daniel. And I always pray na maging better sila."
Karla has no direct answer if Daniel indeed cheated on Kathryn. All she wanted her kids to know is the learning on how to face the mistakes and challenges their facing right now.
"Kasi kailangan mong magkamali para may matutunan ka at para mas maging mabuti kang tao after that. Nandito lang ako lagi sa likod ni Daniel if ever tawagan niya ako at gusto niya akong makausap.
"It's an exercise for my children na hindi dapat sila agad nakatanghod sa akin tuwing meron silang problema. Kasi ang itinuro ko sa mga anak ko, puwede tayong madapa, puwede tayo masaktan, and just learn from it. Matuto lang tayo diyan kasi hindi puwedeng tumigil and buhay. Magsisingkuwenta na ako ngayon, hindi pa rin perfect ang buhay ko. Araw-araw may pagkakamali pa rin tayo.
"Bago ka matulog, magpatawad ka. Humingi ka ng tawad, magpatawad ka. Ipagdasal mo yung mga taong nagagalit sa iyo. Sa akin pag sinabing hindi naman totoo yan, ba't mo ipagdarasal?' Minumura ka araw-araw sa social media, tinatawag ka ng kung anu-ano, pati mga anak mo nasasali, di ba? Hindi ko na problema yun," she stressed.
