A South Korean national was shot dead at the Korean town in Angeles City on Sunday, April 20.

The victim was killed in broad daylight along Friendship Highway, near a bank, in what was initially reported as a robbery incident around 1:50 PM on said day.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was later declared dead.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. has directed the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) to solve the fatal shooting incident within 72 hours.

This is the first recorded case involving the death of a Korean national linked to robbery.

Lazatin instructed Colonel Joselito Villarosa Jr., acting City Police director, to conduct a follow up operation for the identification and apprehension of the suspect.

The mayor directed Villarosa to heighten police alert to ensure the safety of residents and tourists in the city.

“We will not allow this brutal act to go unresolved. Angeles City must remain a safe place for both locals and foreigners,” Lazatin said.
