10-hour NGCP power outage irks Pampanga residents

THE ongoing enhanced community quarantine has been made even more unbearable by a more than 10-hour power outage by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Sunday noon.

The power outage lasted just before the early morning of April 27.

The unscheduled power interruption hit parts of the consumers of Pampanga II Electric Cooperative in the towns of Guagua, Bacolor, Santa Rita, Sasmuan, Lubao and Porac. It also affected consumers of San Fernando Electric Light and Power Co. Inc. in Floridablanca town.

The power outage was allegedly caused by a problem inside NGCP's inside Hermosa Substation, which affected the Hermosa-Guagua and Hermosa-Floridablanca 69kV line.

Hundreds of consumers lambasted NGCP and the power service utilities for the unscheduled power interruption.

NGCP allegedly restored power transmission services in parts of Pampanga on April 26 at 10:44 p.m. for Hermosa-Guagua and 10:46 p.m. for Hermosa-Floridablanca 69kV lines.

But residents posted on their Facebook accounts that the power supply in their areas was restored in the early morning of April 27. Some also complained of intermittent power outages before the transmission was stabilized.
