SEVERAL evacuation centers in the municipality of Masantol continue to shelter flood victims, as their houses and surrounding areas are still submerged in water.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRM) reported 115 families or about 450 individuals, mostly from the coastal barangays, are still in evacuation centers as of Thursday, November 19.
The relief operations are ongoing to aid the displaced residents, especially those whose livelihood were affected.
Governor Dennis Pineda sent some 10,000 food packs to Masantoleños on Wednesday, while the local government is providing additional relief goods and conducting feeding program for evacuees.
Mayor Danilo Guintu asked residents to continue praying while the municipality continues to recover from the effects of typhoons and flooding.
"Let us continue helping our flood-affected kabalens and through our unity, we can surely recover from this calamity," Guinto said.
The MDDRM report said that flood of up to 2.5 feet caused by water coming from the upstream and high tide level is still affecting coastal barangays.
