14 rebel returnees in Aurora receive financial aid

BALER, Aurora -- A total of 14 rebel returnees in Aurora received financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Ten returnees each got an immediate assistance of P15,000 and livelihood assistance of P50,000.

Four returnees, on the other hand, received aid for surrendering their firearms ranging from P60,000 to P285,000.

“E-Clip being locally-driven, managed and implemented veers away from the past practice of pre-packaged interventions designed at the national level. It responds to the circumstances, needs and concerns of former rebels through provision of assistance and seeks to consider their basic rights and situations as men and women,” DILG provincial director Ofelio Tactac Jr. said.

“It provides a wide range of benefits which includes reintegration assistance amounting P21,000; firearms remuneration which is double the cost valuation; livelihood materials and implements or employment assistance amounting P100,000; housing amounting P450,000; medical assistance; legal assistance; and college tuition and stipend,” Tactac added.
