28 villages flooded due to Tropical Storm Danas

The weekend rains brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Danas and the Southwest Monsoon have left at least 28 barangays in three towns in Pampanga flooded, the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said.

At least 13 barangays in Masantol town are now submerged with some areas experiencing two to three feet floodwaters.

The flooded villages are Alualai, Bagang, Balibago, Nigui, Sagrada, Sapang Kawayan, Santa Lucia Anac, Santa Lucia Paguiaba, San Isidro Anac, San Nicolas, Bebe Anac, Palimpe, and Santa Cruz.

Some 19,980 families or 77,442 individuals from 25 villages experience flooding.

Meanwhile, some five barangays in Macabebe town are also flooded.

The PDRRMO said that at least three feet of floodwaters were recorded in some areas of San Gabriel and Mataguiti.

The barangays of Saplad, Tacasan, and Batasan are also flooded.

The PDRRMO also reported flooding in the 10 barangays of Minalin town, with two feet high floodwaters recorded in San Isidro.

The barangays of Santa Catalina, San Francisco I, San Francisco II, San Nicolas, Santo Rosario, Bulac, Dawe, Maniago, Saplad and San Isidro recorded one to 1.5 feet high floodwaters.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) 14,416 families or 44,834 individuals were affected by the flooding.

One family in Masantol town, consisting of seven individuals, was evacuated to the Barangay Santa Monica Health Center over the weekend.

A separate report prepared by the PDRRMO on Sunday stated that the number of families in the province's coastal towns -- Macabebe, Masantol and Minalin -- have reached 25,000 as of press time.
