CANDABA -- Amid the ongoing fight against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the local government here waged efforts to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the community.
This was evident after the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday declared three of its barangays, namely Vizal San Pablo, Vizal Sto. Cristo and Pulong Gubat drug-cleared.
PDEA Central Luzon Director Bryan Babang, who personally awarded the plaques, said the three barangays successfully complied with the 14 parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) under its "Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program" board regulation.
The new set of drug-cleared villages added up to the initial 22 barangays, which were earlier declared as drug-cleared.
Mayor Rene Maglanque, for his part, lauded the efforts of barangay officials for ensuring that their communities are free from illegal drugs.
He also gave credit to the local police for their relentless patrolling, information dissemination and assistance to local government and barangay which resulted in the said success.
"This is a product of the unity between all leaders in town and of course, we also would like to recognize the cooperation of all CandabeƱos who are one with our efforts to bring progress to our town through peace and order," he said.
