Three foreign nationals pretending as Filipinos were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Pampanga recently.
The bureau said on Saturday that the three were apprehended after being found using illegally-acquired Philippine documents, which they use in their businesses in the country.
The BI said an anonymous complaint led to the arrest of a male Chinese national -- Lin Yi, 35 -- who was nabbed running a carwash business along Pandan Road in Angeles City on July 31.
He was using a Philippine birth certificate, a Philippine identification card, and an official receipt for a Philippine driver’s license.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of a working visa valid until 2027 under his Chinese identity.
The two other arrested foreigners were identified as Yan Yize, 30; and Wang Jiangyi, 55.
Yan was arrested at a residential unit in Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City while Wang was nabbed in Barangay Panipuan, Mexico town.
The BI said the two possessed late-registered Philippine birth certificates, tax identification number, and business registrations with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
They are linked to a construction and development corporation allegedly involved in land acquisition.
The three are now under BI custody pending deportation proceedings.
The BI said it submitted a report to the Department of Justice for a probe on the sources of illegally acquired Philippine documents by foreign nationals.
