5 CTG members surrender to Central Luzon police

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Five members of counter-terrorist group voluntarily surrendered to Police Regional Office III (PRO-3) as a result of the latter's strong campaign against terrorism.

PRO-3 Regional Director Rhodel Sermonia said the surrenderers were from Aurora and Nueva Ecija provinces.

He said the surrenderer from Aurora who was a member of Milisyang Bayan of Timog Sierra Madre voluntary submitted one M-16 rifle with defaced Serial number together with two short magazines loaded with 26 rounds of live 5.56 ammunition, while the four others from San Jose City, Nueva Ecija were CPP-NPA members.

The returnees are eligible to avail of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (e-clip) and will be provided with a holistic package of benefits such as livelihood, medical, education, housing, and legal assistance.

Sermonia said PRO-3, which is an active member of the Regional Task Force To End Local Communist Arm Conflict, continue to implement local peace engagemt such as information dissemination.

He said the activities aim to encourage the members to return to the community and reintegrate their lives anew with their family.

"I am once again urging those who are still actively fighting the government to lay down their arms and embrace other peaceful means to attain their sought-after changes and to refrain from recruiting youth from poor families and students from state colleges and universities in Central Luzon. Our government has several programs to retool you so that you could all become even more productive members of our society," Sermonia said.
