5 nabbed, 14 rescued in anti-human trafficking ops

SOME 14 alleged victims of human trafficking were rescued in two separate operations launched in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City on Thursday evening, July 21, 2022.

The operation was conducted by joint forces of the Regional Anti-Trafficking in Persons Task Group, Women and Children Protection Unit, Angeles City Police, Regional Maritime Unit, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, City Social Welfare and Development Office-Angeles and Department of Labor and Employment.

The rescued victims were allegedly recruited in two separate nightclubs to offer sexual services to foreign nationals.

Police were also able to arrest alleged pimps identified as Marites Dela Peña, Beverly Tangcoman, Arelita Ybañes, and Daisy Ranola, all Filipinos; and Minjae Yim who is a Korean national.

The arrested individuals will be facing charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9208 or Anti-Trafficking in Persons, and RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children and Women Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
