SAN Simon re-electionist Mayor Abundio Punsalan Jr. has pledged to participate in a clean, honest, accurate, meaningful and peaceful (Champ) elections on May 9.

Punsalan formalized his commitment by signing the covenant for Champ organized by the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting last Sunday, April 24.

“Ang kampanya natin ay laban ng mga accomplishments. Sinasabi natin sa mga tao kung ano ang nagawa ko bilang mayor nila in 22 months. Ayaw natin ng siraan at propaganda dahil doon lang tayo sa totoo,” he said.

During the event, Punsalan was also given the platform to share with the parishioners his accomplishments during his first term, and his plans for the municipality if seated anew as mayor.

“Lahat po ng ipinangako ko noong nakaraang eleksyon ay natupad ko, sobra pa nga siguro kaya hindi ako mahihiya na hingin ulit ang boto ng aking mga kababayan dito sa Masantol,” he said.

Among the projects that Punsalan was able to deliver were the installation of streetlights on major streets, construction of dialysis center and other buildings at the Local Government Center, barangay roads, and Sta. Monica-Sto. Niño bridge.

He added that he was also able to provide assistance to thousands of sickly and disadvantaged Simonians, and provide relief aid during the height of Luzon-wide community lockdown caused by the pandemic.

Aside from fulfilling his campaign promise, the incumbent mayor said he also delivered additional projects such as the construction of the municipal hall annex and the funding of the San Simon-Baliwag Road in Barangay San Miguel, San Simon.

Meanwhile, Punsalan bared the programs he vows to implement should he be given a chance for second term.

Among the big tickets projects vowed by Punsalan are the construction of the community college, continuous fuel subsidy to transport drivers, and fertilizer aid to farmers, and increase of number of social pensioners in town.

“Marami pa tayong pangarap at ang target natin ay bago matapos ang aking pangatlong term sa 2028 ay maging San Simon City na itong bayan namin,” he said.
