AC cited for programs protecting women, kids

The local government unit of Angeles City was recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) after garnering 110 percent functionality in terms of Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children.

The inter-agency's monitoring team revealed that the performance of city government has reached a high level of functionality.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr., said his administration will continue to intensify its anti-trafficking programs to protect the welfare of children.

The mayor said the Gender and Development Office, with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Angeles City Police Office has assisted 6,213, through the VAWC desk, since he assumed office.

Lazatin said he has issued a marching order then to ensure that VAWC desks in each 33 barangay are activated.

The mayor added that he regularly convened the Local Council for Protection of Children to revisit and strengthen the programs.

Lazatin thanked the DILG for commending the city.

He also lauded the efforts of LGU offices that work hand-in-hand to eradicate trafficking in person and violence against women and children.
