Agri sector moves for agri-fishery database

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) presented the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization and Engineering Resource Network (AFMechERN) to the different Municipal and City Agriculturists of Pampanga during their monthly meeting on May 09 held at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The agricultural and fisheries mechanization database of the country will be part of the AFMechERN as described in AFMech Law of 2013 Article III, Section 10.

The objective of the AFMechERN is to establish network that shall primarily serve as the national resource base facility on agri-fisheries mechanization and engineering information systems. It shall be equipped to generate the needed data for general information and reference; resource analysis, planning and allocation and for policy analysis, decisions and advocacy.

AFMechERN is tasked to develop, enhance, and establish new databases. Furthermore, it shall make data accessible to all government and non-government partner agencies and organizations like the DA, DOST, DTI, UPLB-AMPD, SUCs and other government agencies, recognized national organization of agricultural assemblers, manufacturers and distributors and other private organizations involved in the development, production, promotion and marketing of agri-fishery machineries and equipment.

Pampanga Provincial Agriculturist Edilberto Salenga presided the said meeting.
