Agricultural damage due to typhoons reaches P50-M

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The damages to agriculture due the weather disturbances in the past week have swelled to over P50-million, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRMMO).

On its final report released Tuesday, the PDDRMO reported that the onslaught of typhoon “Ineng” and southwest moonsoon have resulted to a total of P50,934,708 worth of damages to agriculture products.

Palay farmers suffered the most losses amounting to P36,030,176. High value crops valued at P4,303,915 were also destroyed.

Corn and cassava products suffered losses totaling P5,920,617.

The fishery sector incurred damages amounting to P4,680,000.

As of Tuesday, the PDRRMO reported that 13 barangays in Macabebe, San Simon, and Candaba towns remained flooded.

Five families, comprising 28 individuals from Macabebe town, are still staying in evacuation centers due to flooding in their homes.
