ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. has ordered the shutdown of certain flea markets in Barangay Lourdes Northwest.

According to Lazatin, the tiangge set-up stores violated health and safety protocols such as customers and sellers not wearing facemasks, failure to conduct social distancing and contact tracing, and having no special permit to operate.

This was after key offices — the Business Permit and Licensing Division, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) and Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary — conducted their regular daily inspection of the establishments that are allowed to operate amidst the pandemic.

BPLD Chief Evangeline Malonzo and ACDRRMO Officer-in-Charge Rudy Simeon found the said tianggian breaching health and safety protocols which led to its closure.

Lazatin urged Angeleños to continue following safety protocols set by the city government, in accordance with the Department of Health and Inter-Agency Task Force on Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

He is appealing to the public to limit social gatherings to avoid further spread of Covid-19.
