FOR two consecutive years, the Angeles City Government has been awarded for its anti-corruption drive by the United Nations (UN) International Anti-Corruption Day Organizing Committee in South Korea.
On February 22, representatives from South Korea visited Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. at the city hall and personally handed the plaque for the Integrity Achievement Award to the local government.
The award was conferred to the City Government on December 9, 2020.
This is the second year Angeles City was awarded for its anti-corruption programs.
On October 21, 2019, the City Government also received an award for Anti-Corruption Integrity from the same committee.
Lazatin's administration received several awards and citations, including Top 5 Most Improved Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) in the Competitiveness Index for 2021 by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
It is also the Top 6 City Nationwide in terms of Collection Efficiency of locally-sourced revenues by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).
The city was also included among the first 23 HUCs that achieved herd immunity against Covid-19, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The DILG has also lauded the City Government for two consecutive years, in 2020 and 2021, for having Anti-Drug Programs with “High Functionality.” The citation plaques were received by the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Acadac).
In August 2021, Angeles City received the Prime HRM Bronze Award from the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Lazatin is currently serving his first term as mayor of Angeles City. He is running for a second term in the 2022 Elections with incumbent City Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting.
Joining Lazatin in receiving the plaque from the South Korean representatives is incumbent Pampanga First District Representative, Carmelo Lazatin II, who is currently running for a third term.
