THE Angeles City Government launched its free Wi-Fi program for residents in Barangay Pulung Cacutud and Barangay Cutud on Monday, October 5, 2020.

At present, there are seven active access points in Northville Barangay Cutud and three in Barangay Pulung Cacutud.

A total of 772 satellite units amounting to P20 million will be installed around the city to provide free internet service to all Angeleños.

“Hindi po titigil ang City Government hangga’t hindi nalalagyan ng active access points ang lahat ng 33 barangays sa siyudad,” Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. said.

To ensure fast and reliable internet access will be provided to students and teachers, the City Government will also issue internet access cards for them.

Lazatin explained the importance of prioritizing the teachers' and students’ internet service is to avoid disruption of online classes due to fluctuating internet connection.

“Importanteng maayos at mabilis ang magagamit na internet ng mga estudyante at guro, upang maseguro na hindi maantala ang online classes nila,” Lazatin added.

Lazatin’s chief adviser and tactician director, IC Calaguas, said the City Government initially planned to just provide internet access for students and teachers but eventually decided to provide free Wi-Fi to all residents.

Calaguas said residents can avail of the city’s free Wi-Fi service by first connecting their Wi-Fi settings to “Angeles City Free Wifi.”

Second, they need to go to their browser and type the URL, “connect.socifi.com.”

The user must then log on to the Wi-Fi using their personal social media account or email.

Each resident will be connected for 30 minutes per login. They can repeat the same procedure if they want to use the free Wi-Fi longer.

The step-by-step procedure can also be found on the City Information Office Facebook page, Calaguas said.

Calaguas said the city’s free Wi-Fi project is made possible through their partnership with Pil-Chi Telecoms, Inc. and local provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc.
