Angeles City rolls out free anti-rabies vaccination for pets

IN PUTTING a premium for animal welfare, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., through the City Veterinary Office led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, on October 6, 2021, has begun the free anti-rabies vaccination of dogs and cats in Savannah, Barangay Cuayan.

The City Veterinary Office has scheduled a month-long calendar of vaccinations in the city’s 33 barangays.

Amid the pandemic, the City Government also allotted P5 million for the free neutering and spaying of 1,000 pets, as well as free anti-rabies vaccines for 30,000 pets in the city.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, an animal lover herself, said this initiative has been a program of the City Government as soon as Lazatin took office, supervised by his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas.

Calaguas said the City Government wants to promote responsible pet ownership among Angeleño households by the free programs being provided by the city government.

In observance of the safety and health protocols against Covid-19, the City Veterinary Office will visit the 33 barangays by schedule. Pet owners are required to wear face masks and face shields and observe social distancing. (PR)
