Artists to highlight beauty of bamboo in exhibit

ANGELES CITY -- The grass bamboo is not just an alternative construction and building material, it can also be a material for art projects and installations as well inspiration for other forms of art.

This is what the exhibit “Casampatan ning Cuayan (The Beauty of the Bamboo): An Exhibit-Celebration of the Bamboo's Beauty” aims to highlight.

The exhibit will be held at the 128-year-old Pamintuan Mansion in Miranda Street, Barangay Sto. Rosario here which now houses the Museum of Philippine Social History. Administered under the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the facility plays host and conducts lectures on varying topics from culture, tradition and contemporary issues.

The exhibit will run from September 8 to October 14 this year.

The event will feature works of artists Andy Bondoc, Angelo “Long” Melo, Arnel Tacazon Maniego, Brittany Yulo, Conrado Titus Del Rosario, Don Reich De Dios, Eulogio Garcia, Harvey San Miguel, Jesus Miguel Ofalsa of Paper Soul, Patricia Santos, Ronald Buenacifra, Jr., Sig Yu and Tonic Gene among others.

The exhibit is for free and open to the public.

The event is also expected to feature musical performances using bamboo instruments.
