CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A two-day old baby boy was rescued by police from his alleged kidnapper on Monday.
Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo, director of Police Regional Office III, said they responded from a report of a concerned citizen regarding an alleged kidnapping of a newborn child.
Investigation revealed that the child's 29-year-old mother "Rona" was allegedly deceived by the suspect.
The mother told authorities that she was acquainted with the suspect through a social media platform when she was looking for a job to sustain her medical and financial needs during her pregnancy.
"The suspect then provided for the mother's needs including travel expenses from Palawan to Angeles City where she gave birth and also promised her a stable job after giving birth," said Hidalgo.
The suspect was able to encourage the mother to falsify the child's documents, according to Hidalgo.
"The suspect then took the baby while the mother was recovering from giving birth, and became totally unreachable after that," he said.
Police conducted a follow up investigation which led to the location and arrest of the suspect.
She was identified as Vanessa Paras, 22, a call center agent and resident of Barangay Anunas, Angeles City.
Charges for violation of Art 270 of Revised Penal Code (Kidnapping and failure to return a minor) and violation of R.A. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Person) are now being readied against the suspect.
The infant was turned-over to Angeles City Social Welfare and Development Office for proper disposition.
