BACOLOR -- Mayor Edurado "Diman" Datu issued a closure order against a quail farm here for alleged health and sanitary violations.

The mayor said he issued the farm's closure in a bid to protect local communities and the environment.

Datu signed the closure order over the weekend against RRBA Quail Farm in Barangay San Isidro.

This after the series of inspections and monitoring conducted by the Municipal Joint Monitoring Task Force on Poultry and Animal Farms.

The mayor said the quail business allegedly committed continuous violations of provisions of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003).

Monitoring teams also discovered that the said farm had allegedly violated bio-security protocols and operating without license and business permits.

The quail farm was ordered to comply with regulations as soon as possible.

The mayor said the local government is looking at possible ways to limit the number of poultry farms in the town.
