Bataan freeport among fastest growing ecozones

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) just before year end 2022 cited the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) as among the fastest growing economic zones in the country.

The AFAB citation is based on the number of locators, investments, and workers, noting that as of October 2022, FAB has a total of 94 operating enterprises and about 39,695 workers, 64 percent of which were already on regular employment status.

AFAB added that during the same period, FAB generated a total of P11.3 billion worth of investments from its enterprises, P158.5 million from port services revenue and $US 835 million from export transactions.

AFAB likewise completed a total of P13.4 million worth of infrastructure projects within the FAB community.

For its part, AFAB disclosed that it already has 18 expansion areas in Bataan province, seven of which are operational while the others are undergoing development. As of 2022, only Morong and Orion have no FAB expansion areas.
