The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday that the 10-day nationwide voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in December will be in the last week of July to the first week of August.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the registration was moved to late July from the previous July 1, Tuesday to July 11, because of the recent national and local midterm elections.
The BSKE calendar shows July 2025 to August 2025 as the period for updating of registration records.
“Nationwide, we will reopen voter registration for BSKE. Remember, it was suspended on September 30 because there [was a midterm] election. Those who want to reactivate, transfer registration, register as new voters, they have only 10 days to register," he said.
Some 1.2 million new voters aged 15 to 18 years old are expected to register during the 10-day period for the BSKE 2025, an addition to the current 68,431,965 voters.
The poll body's BSKE 2025 calendar shows that applications for membership to the Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) are from July 1 to July 11.
The last day to file opposition to applications for voter registrations and memberships to KK is on July 22, the Comelec said.
The agency added that the approval or disapproval of applications for voter registrations and memberships to KK will be on July 28.
The last day to file requests or petitions to change, transfer, or correct name or address of voting centers is on August 8; and the last day to file Statements of Contributions and Expenditures will be on December 31.
Aspiring BSKE officials will have October 1, Wednesday to October 7 to file their certificates of candidacies.
Candidates will be given a 10-day campaign period from November 20, Thursday to November 29, Saturday.
Casting of votes on December 1 will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. where counting and canvassing of votes will immediately take place after the closing of polling precincts.
