Bulacan councilman nabbed for firearms

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A barangay kagawad in Bulacan province, who is an alleged member of the Reyes Criminal Gang, was arrested by police during the implementation of a search warrant in San Ildefonso, Bulacan on Thursday.

The search was conducted by the intelligence unit of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion III led by Lieutenant Colonel Jay Dimaandal.

Dimaandal said the suspect, Edgarda Cruz, was apprehended for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition law.

Cruz, 50, is a kagawad (councilman) of Barangay Umpucan in San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

The Reyes Criminal Gang has been linked to robbery-holdup, carnapping and gun-for-hire activities in San Ildefonso and nearby towns of Bulacan.

During the search, cops seized a 9mm pistol without serial number, caliber 38 revolver, and various ammunitions.

Suspect will face charges for violation of Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition law.
