THE past year may not be so bad after all for Candaba town after the local government unit (LGU) bagged multiple awards from several agencies.

Candaba's Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Josephine Villanueva said at least 11 recognitions were bagged by the town during the annual year-end report held at the Mayor's Action Center.

Among the awards received were Seal of Child-Friendly Municipality from the Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Top Performing Health Office, Best Swabbing Team and Frontliners, and Smooth Zoning Containment Strategy for Lockdown award from the Department of Health.

The LGU likewise bagged the Department of the Interior and Local Government's Good Financial Housekeeping Award, Subaybayani Award, Bigkis Bayanihan Award, Anti-Drug Abuse Council Special Award, and a commendation for its outstanding contribution to Save Manila Bay program, while one Candabeño Redentor Ulip received the Lingkod Bayan 2020 award.

Villanueva said the awards showed that the local government and its employees excelled at their duties of providing quality public service, and rose up to the unexpected challenge brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mayor Rene Maglanque, meanwhile, awarded the said recognitions to the offices that delivered outstanding public service to Candabeños.

"These awards will not be possible without the unity of our local government officers and employees, and the cooperation of every Candabeño and we are very proud to say that each one of us responded to the call of making Candaba one of the premier towns in the country," he said.
