Capas town in Tarlac site of solar farm

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---The municipality of Capas in Tarlac province has been chosen as the site for a 100-megawatt solar farm expected to generate jobs and revenues.

The local government unit of Capas, together with Tarlac II Electric Cooperative (Tarelco II), signed a memorandum of understanding with Lex Phil International Corporation for the P10-billion renewable energy project located in Barangay Bueno.

“Capas was selected as the project site due to its strategic location,” said Lex Phil International Corporation Chairperson Su Eon Kim.

Kim noted that the job opportunities and revenues the establishment of the facility will bring to the community.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the local government unit shall assist the company in securing all necessary building, construction and operational permits, provided Lex Phil International Corporation complies with all laws and municipal ordinances, said Capas Mayor Roseller Rodriguez.

“We will give assistance for the smooth establishment of this project because this is a welcome investment in our municipality. It can also help in solving the energy problem in our country,” he said.

Tarelco II will provide the company power load, power projections, and other related data needed in the proposed construction of the solar power plant as it expressed openness for a joint venture with Lex Phil International Corporation.

“We are welcoming this job investment which can help the LGU and the cooperative. You know, we should have a lot of investors. The more supply, the less the demand which could lead to cheaper electricity prices. This solar project could positively impact the energy source, employment and revenue in Capas," said Tarelco II Board President Aubrey Alimurung.
