ANGELES CITY -- The City College of Angeles (CCA) has finally received the recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) naming this city's first community college as a full-pledge higher educational institution.

The recognition was handed over by Ched officer-in-charge J. Prospero De Vera III during the Nationwide Caravan for Republic Act 10931 held recently at the Hiyas Convention Center of Malolos City in Bulacan.

CCA president Dr. Richard Daenos personally received the said recognition saying that "it reiterates the college's commitment to excellence".

"This grant conferred to us by Ched is the fruit of the city's hard work and a reflection of its vision to bring out the best in every Angeleño youth by providing them opportunities and access to tertiary education," said Daenos.

"It will allow us to place the college on the map of prime learning institutions offering quality tertiary education especially to our underprivileged youth," the CCA president added.

CCA is one of the only three local universities and colleges (LUCs) from Central Luzon to receive the recognition from Ched.

Back in December 2016, CCA was able to submit all compliance documents to the Ched as it is forwarded to its head office in Manila.

To attain the institutional recognition, the CCA administration came up with a five-year comprehensive development plan that deals with all aspects of the college's operation. This includes the curriculum improvement, infrastructure development, governance and management, human resources and development, and more importantly, the student's development.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan takes pride on this achievement attained by the city college as it marks another milestone for CCA.

"This attainment serves as a constant reminder for us in the local government to consistently subscribe or even go beyond the requirements of the Ched which of course are part of the efforts of the college to provide quality yet affordable tertiary education to the young people of Angeles City," the mayor reiterated.

CCA was established in 2012 and is one of the priority projects of Mayor Pamintuan enshrined in his 8-point platform of governance, the Contract with the Angeleños. (PR)
