Central Luzon logs highest single-day Covid cases

MORE than 1,025 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were reported from Central Luzon provinces for August 8, one of the highest single-day increase in the number of cases for the past weeks, according to latest data from the Department of Health’s (DOH) Covid-19 Tracker.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in Central Luzon to 151,204 to date. Meanwhile, 138,559 of these confirmed cases have already recovered. The number of active cases in the region is currently at 8,815.

Central Luzon has the third highest incidence of coronavirus cases in the country after Region 4-A (Calabarzon) and National Capital Region (NCR), second and first, respectively.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, 3,830 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in the region.

Some 10, 544 cases have been recorded in Central Luzon in the past 14 days.

In Bulacan alone, some 4,441 new cases have been recorded in the last 14 days, while Pampanga recorded some 2,302 new cases around the same period.
