TARLAC CITY -- Chooks-to-Go of Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (Bavi) gave support to an Aeta community through the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
The agencies were launching a vocational training program for members of the Pacquillao Tribal Community in Barangay Care, Tarlac City.
Donating 120 dressed chicken for the project’s launching program, Chooks-to-Go showed its support for indigenous people who want to acquire technical skills that enhance their community life and prepare some of them for the job market.
Among the skills which members could learn are haircutting, baking, driving, cooking, masonry and carpentry.
According to Bavi President Ronald Mascariñas, advocating for the welfare of indigenous Filipinos is a duty that Chooks-to-Go takes seriously.
“Indigenous communities are selfless custodians of our natural and cultural heritage. Unfortunately, poverty and lack of access to opportunities hamper their development as people. It is our hope that, though our services and products, we at Bavi can somehow help in mitigating the difficulties they face,” said Mascariñas.
Present at the launching event yesterday were NCIP Undersecretary Commissioner Rolando Rivera, Tesda Provincial Director John Adawey, 2nd District of Tarlac City Congressman Victor Yap and Pacquillao Tribal Chieftain Bernie Pantaleon.
Recently, through Uling Roasters, Bavi also supported the indigenous people who were stranded at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, giving them warm meals before their ride home. The company has been actively supporting vulnerable groups and frontline workers since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Bavi is the largest rotisserie chicken company in the Philippines. It is also the second-largest poultry integrator in the country, together with sister company Bounty Fresh Foods, Inc.
