City hosts VAWC quiz bee

MABALACAT CITY Various departments from the city government have competed in a quiz bee competition that revolved around laws and issuances on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

The End-VAW Quiz Bee Competition 2022 on December 12, held at the Fontana Convention Center in Clark, was facilitated by the city’s Population, Gender and Development office led by Charlo Costales and Mabalacat City Association of Empowered Women led by its president, Ruth Baldoz.

Costales said the quiz bee aims to increase awareness on the laws and ordinances on VAWC in the country.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Josephine Tanglao also graced the event.

Divided into 10 groups, the city government department representatives competed in three rounds with winners taking home the following prizes: 1st prize, 20,000; 2nd prize, 15,000; and 3rd prize, 10,000.

Eliminated teams brought home 5000 each as a consolation prize.

The team composed of representatives from the City Engineering Office, Civil Registrar's Office, Rural Health Unit 1 and Business Permit and Licensing Unit won the 1st prize, followed by MCC, MISO, CSAO and and PDAO as the 1st runner up, and the EA office, VM Office, CHO, SP and RHU II as the 2nd runner up.
