Clark exec: Include Aetas in development

CLARK FREEPORT -- The indigenous people (IPs) should be included in the development of Clark, according to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) director.

CDC director Mike Macapagal has underscored the need for an inclusive growth to protect the interest of the IPs in the area.

“Inclusive growth, it means that the whole community, whether you are Catholic, Muslim, or whatever background you have in your case kung indigenous people, should be included in the development of the area. That’s what it means,” Macapagal said.

The CDC official has cited the potential of improving the living condition of the Aetas residing in several villages around the Freeport.

CDC’s aim is to develop the area under the ancestral domain and accommodate numerous investments at the Clark subzone, according to the Clark official.

Number two is labor or employment. In fact, I will propose to prioritize investment that are coming into the subzone,” Macapagal said.

The most labor intensive companies or industries should be given priority,” he added.

“The more employment, the more priority given to the company,” he added.
