CLARK FREEPORT --- The newly appointed director of Clark Development Corporation said he believed Central Luzon region, where the Clark Freeport is located, will be the “Golden Gate Bridge” to progress.
Michael Macapagal, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) director, said Clark has a bigger potential for development than Subic because it has a bigger available land area and a development plan.
“I believe that Central Luzon is the Golden Gate Bridge that will take us to the soon (future) development of our country,” Macapagal said during a recent meeting with members of the Capampangan In Media Incorporated (CAMI) inside the Freeport.
He was referring to the Golden Gate Bridge, the famous bridge in San Franciso, a port city in Western California that is one of the major industrial and transportation centers in the United States.
Macapagal, who hails from Olongapo City, said several development plans have been lined up for Clark.
“Maraming plano ang president for CDC (The President has a lot of plans for CDC) and if the plans materialize, I think it’s really good not only for Pampanga, Bulacan but for the entire region,” Macapagal said.
Metro Manila is already congested and there are no areas for expansion, he noted.
“Kasi yung Metro Manila tapos na iyan eh. Nakita niyo naman fully congested. Where do you plan to expand, you cannot expand in Southern Metro Manila mas lalong masikip. You go to the north, this is where I think expansion is very ripe,” Macapagal said.
Macapagal, a distant relative of the Macapagals in Lubao town, is the son of former Olongapo mayor Teddy Macapagal.
Duterte appointed Macapagal as CDC director last February 2.
