Clark to host PH first int’l foot race marathon

CLARK FREEPORT -- Runners and fitness enthusiasts alike are expected to flock to the premier international foot race marathon in the country which will be held in this Freeport on October 27.

Runrio Inc., a company that supports the growth of community of runners in the country, partnered with Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), Association of International Marathons and Distance Races / International Association of Athletics Federation (Aims/IAAF), Gatorade and Adidas to conduct the Clark Sunset Marathon here.

In a statement posted on their website, Runrio Inc. said that their team aims to establish the activity as the premier international foot race marathon in the country by securing route standards and accreditation from Association of International Marathons and Distance Races / International Association of Athletics Federation, which is the international governing body for distance races in the world.

The Clark Sunset Marathon was conceptualized by Runrio with the idea that running at night may give runners a “cooler and a more exciting” experience.

Considering the existence of an international airport here, the event also encourages foreign runners and tourists to join in the activity and celebrate with an after party on the finish line dubbed as the Clark Sunset Marathon Music Festival.

For its first year, four races categories are made available for the participants. They may choose from distances of 5K, 10K, 21k and 42K.
