DA hosts evaluation of good agri-practices

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Agriculture for Central Luzon (DA RFO 3) in collaboration with the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) conducted the Evaluation of the Philippine National Standard on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) - Baseline Assessment, on August 30 in the Philippine Carabao Center, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

The purpose of this baseline assessment is to discover methods for developing policy recommendations, amending or revising the Philippine National Standard (PNS), strengthening standards-related roles, and conducting an in-depth study that will promote GAP in the country.

GAP Certified Farmers shared their experiences and changes achieved since they became GAP Certified Farmers.

The assessment was divided into two sessions.

The participants in the first session included GAP Certified Farmers from the provinces of Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, and Bataan, while in the second session GAP Certified Farmers from Nueva Ecija.

The program was attended by BAFS, Senior Science Research Specialist Alpha Lanuza, DVM, and BAFS, Assistant Director Designate & Chief-Science Research Specialist Mary Grace Mandigma who gave an initial message and explanation of why this baseline assessment was conducted.
