DA hosts food safety training in Lubao town

LUBAO—The Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Luzon, through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), hosted a two-day training on Post-harvest Management Training Towards Agribusiness Food Safety and Business Development recently at the Hacienda Gracia Resort and Hotel here.

The event served as a training for farmers, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs including young people who are into agriculture.

The workshop is expected to hone the farmers' knowledge on certification, the importance of safe food, product development and competitiveness in the market.

Presenters on the first day of the training included Agriculturist II Roel Rubion, who shared knowledge about the Code of Good Agricultural Practices for Fruits and Vegetables.

The Technical Manager from the Department of Science and Technology, Diana Cecilia Zambrano Estrella, shared inputs on the Food Safety Act of 2013 or the Republic Act No. 10611 and the Good Manufacturing Practices.

Participants were given the opportunity to review and demonstrate what they have learned through training on Product Management, Pricing, and Risk Management on consecutive days.
