DA hosts hybrid rice derby in Central Luzon

THE Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Luzon hosted its Harvest Festival and Hybrid Rice Derby on Monday, March 14, 2022.

The hybrid rice derby aims to increase national output through intensified use of quality seeds, appropriate inputs and modern technologies to increase levels of productivity, availability, accessibility, and affordability amidst the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

The harvest festival was attended by Central Luzon Seed Growers Federation Head Ariel B. Dolores of Nueva Ecija Seed Growers; Leonardo “Father” Guintu and Morris Padierno of South Nueva Ecija Seed Growers MPC; Sol Gonzales of Abagon Compact Farm and Seed Growers, MPC, Bernardo Calilung of TAPSGRO and farmers of Nueva Ecija. Such attendance was to witness the harvested Inbred NSIC RC 222 and SL8.

The said activity aims to promote to the farmers various management and practices that emphasizes the importance of using hybrid rice seeds in achieving higher production volume.
