The Department of Education (DepEd) in Central Luzon has rolled out initiatives to resolve common concerns encountered by schools across the region including overcrowded classrooms.

The issues include limited classrooms; overcrowding in some schools; creation of safer, more conducive learning environments; the need for flexible learning options; outdated or insufficient learning materials; and malnutrition among young students.

To ease congestion in schools, the agency said it has ramped up the development of infrastructure from 2025 to 2028.

In Central Luzon, some 48 new classrooms have already been constructed while 605 more are under construction.

For the need of flexible learning options, especially in areas affected by calamities or ongoing infrastructure repair, the agency said it continues to implement and improve blended learning modalities.

Schools division offices in Region 3 conducted learning audits and introduced summer programs to assess student progress and bridge learning gaps.

They also deployed teachers based on classroom requirements and subjects needs through resources inventory.

To address concerns about outdated or insufficient learning materials, the DepEd Region 3 said it has distributed learning materials, textbooks, workbooks, and digital content in all divisions.

Recognizing the health and well-being of students, the agency said it has expanded school-based feeding program in partnership with different non-government organizations.

“These proactive responses by DepEd Region 3 not only address the immediate problems encountered in the opening weeks of school but also lay the groundwork for a more resilient, equitable, and learner-focused education system in Central Luzon,” the agency said.

As of June 27, 2025, DepEd Region III recorded 2,795,332 enrollees in all levels. Of this figure, some 2,349,362 are enrolled in public schools; 440,435 in private schools; and 5,544 in state universities and colleges.
