DOH inspects San Fernando Covid-19 facilities

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Central Luzon on Saturday, April 25, inspected City of San Fernando's isolation facilities.

Dr. Ria Ramos, medical officer of Health Facility and Development Unit, Engineer Fernando Guanzon and Charlie Sanchez, development management officer, led the inspection and evaluation.

DOH particularly looked on the facilities’ compliance with floor plan structure; infection, prevention and control protocols; proper training of the staff on proper use of PPEs and infection control measures; and, sanitation guidelines.

Dr. Emy Mercado of the City Health Office said the facility’s structure has been assessed and approved but the city still needs to comply with other requirements.

“As assessed by the engineer, there is a minimal concern on the structure, but the DOH obliged us to pass all necessary papers and documentations like training certificate of medical staff who will manage the facility, the Memorandum of Agreement with hospitals, etc. They are giving us until next week to comply,” Mercado said.

The city’s application for the accreditation of its facilities and testing centers is one of its efforts in the prevention, mitigation, preparedness for, and containment of the Covid-19 outbreak at the local level.

The conversion of the City Civic Center into a Covid-19 facility is also Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago’s response to the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-064, directing all local chief executives to identify government facilities that may serve as isolation and quarantine facilities. (PR)
